Dental Digital X-Rays

At Valley View Dental, we exclusively utilize digital radiography. Digital dental X-rays significantly reduce patient exposure to radiation—by up to 90% compared to traditional film X-rays—and offer several additional advantages. They are also more environmentally friendly because they eliminate the need for chemical processing. In addition, the images can be instantly displayed on a computer monitor shortly after capture, allowing for faster and more efficient diagnosis and treatment planning.

Dental X-rays rank among the medical procedures with the lowest radiation doses. A standard dental examination, including four bitewing X-rays, results in a radiation exposure of approximately 0.005 mSv. This level is lower than the natural background radiation received in a single day and is comparable to the radiation exposure experienced during a brief airplane flight of approximately one to two hours.
